Okay so I RP with all kinds of people, and Male roleplayers do this really annoying (in my opinion) thing. That is they have a tendency to shoot down any "fun" ideas if they aren't "logical" enough. Like if an idea doesn't make scientifically accurate sense to them, they're like "Nope"
Girl roleplayer - "Oh your character controls fire? Awesome!"
Me - "Thank you!"
Guy roleplayer - "It doesn't make sense that your OC controls fire. I think it would be better if instead they had the power to accelerate air molecules, to spontaneously combust, because that makes more sense."
Me - "It's a super hero RP, where literal magic exists... -_-"
Uhg. Absolutely. It's happened to me quite a bit in the past actually.
At first I would just let it go or laugh it off, maybe even change my character for them if they didn't like it or if I was afraid of losing a partner. After a while, I just told them that it was my character and I would do as I pleased with them, regardless of whether they liked it or not. I've lost a few partners because of that, but at the end of the day I just rolled with it. I shouldn't feel the need to justify what I do to someone I barely know. At least that's my take on it. :'D
