I recently discovered that I have Asperger's along with the other things. In all honesty, this is kinda taking me in a loop.
My parents viewed me as a kid who they love and got in a university in a neighboring state. Awesome right? In my check up with my head doctor, he laid down the bomb. I didn't know if I should tell my parents about it. I did and now I'm being treated differently.
I'm no longer allowed to go anywhere by myself. I cannot drive my own car. No heavy appliances. I feel as I'm a kid again, like I'm six. And you really have insult to injury, my dad is talking me out of going to the university. He even suggested that I look for work at places like Walmart because they always hire people like me.
What the hell? I couldn't believe this! Not to sound narcissistic, but I am the only child that will get somewhere in life in my family. I don't want to live with them forever. I don't know what to do. I think I would have rather have had the doctor say I have cancer than Asperger's at this point.
Unless you have a seizure disorder or something wrong with your eyesight, I don't see how they would be able to keep you from driving and doing normal adult things!
I don't know what else you have, but this has really pissed me off! I'd LOVE to be able to tell your parents to fuck off and give them a nice little psychology lesson. If you're able to do things for yourself, having Asperger's isn't enough for them to basically say you're a disabled person.
... Seriously, I'd love to yell at your parents right now. xD

Not to mention when I came or about this on a Discord server, I think I got kicked out.

Wow, now that's pretty messed up. I don't see why they'd kick you off for talking about something that a lot of people have!
But seriously, if you are 18 or older, your parents can't legally force you to have so many limits. Maybe you should point out that there are plenty of people with autism and Asperger's that are fully functional and that you shouldn't be treated differently just because of some diagnosis.
They're treating you--at least it seems that way--like you are your diagnosis, but please just remember that you're still you! Don't let your dad talk you out of getting a higher education! Perhaps you and your parents should watch a show called "The Good Doctor" since it's pretty realistic and shows that even people who have more severe autism can go onto be anything that they want to. c:
I have actually fostered a few children who have had Asperger's and more severe autism! So if you need someone to talk to about anything, really, please feel free to send me a message on here or email me. ^_^
